Academic Qualification Requirement

Basically: – +2, Bachelor and Masters can apply to study in Japan. All of the students are given the admission to study Japanese language course first.

 Japanese Language Proficiency Test-JLPT

The Japanese-Language Proficiency Test , or JLPT, is an internationally known standardized test to assess and confirm Japanese language proficiency for non-native speakers. The JLPT in Japan is managed and supervised by the Ministry of Education through the Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (JEES). Abroad, the Japan Foundation co-proctors test administration with local cultural exchange and educational institutions, or with committees particularly set up for this purpose. Anyone can sit for the JLPT. There is no age limit for this test.

The JLPT encompasses five levels wherein N1 is the highest level while N5 is the lowest level. The levels are-

  • Level N1:Refers to the ability to comprehend Japanese language used in a diversity of conditions
  • Level N2: Indicates the competency to comprehend the Japanese used in the daily circumstances, and other conditions
  • Level N3:Indicates the competency to comprehend the Japanese used in the daily circumstances to a particular level
  • Level N4:Indicates the ability to comprehend the basic Japanese
  • Level N5:Indicates the competency to comprehend some rudimentary Japanese

Duration of language course in Japanese schools

  • April intake-2 years of course
  • July intake- 1 year and 9 months course
  • October intake-1 year and 6 months course
  • January intake- 1 year and 3 months of course

(Schools in Japan remain close on every Saturday and Sunday. Each school day is four hours of study or 20 hours of schooling every week is compulsory.)

The above information is of the Japanese language class conducted in Japanese schools. After, the completion of this level, students are eligible for admission in University/College and in Vocational Schools, as well. After finishing the language course:
Two options

  • Admission to the university or college for upper level
  • (Like: you have completed your +2 in management in Nepal, you can study bachelor degree in management in Japan).
  • Admission to the vocational school ,You can study any technical course(Like: HM, Travel and Tourism Management, Business management, Applied accounting, Automobile engineering, Translation course, Social work or any you desire).

The most significant if you have passed bachelor degree in Nepal

  • You are eligible to apply the work permit after finishing your language course. It is non-background. You are accepted in any professions. If you are +2 from Nepal
  • You study professional course after finishing your language course and you are asked to find the job offer related to your professional course for the work permit. Therefore, bachelor and masters passed are highly benefited in Japan.
  • Finishing your language course and vocational school or University You have the right to apply for work permit in Japan but it is not guaranteed that you will get the work permit. It depends on your daily activities, attitude, working status and education.

Daily class Hours

Students must attend the class, basically, 4 hours daily, 90% minimum yearly.

Total 20 hours per week class

Holiday and vacation

Generally Saturday and Sunday is off. There is vacation, yearly in every six months, at that time students are allowed to work full time.

Part time job allowed

Part Time Jobs are one of the Financial Aids that students can get. It is a form of employment wherein, the students can work on Part Time basis or for few hours. The working hours are 24 to 28 hours per week . Each region has different kinds and opportunities for Part Time Jobs that are available to the students. Students can work on Part Time basis in order to support their education and other financial needs. As a matter of fact, many colleges and universities provide internships to the students as a part of their program. Thus, students can also earn through internships and continue with their studies very easily.

  • Students can search for Part Time employment opportunities in their college premises itself.
  • Options such as working in the cafeteria, library, supporting the administrative department are available to students.
  • Moreover, one can also look for jobs nearby colleges or residence to save the time to travel.

Total investment in initial Phase

  • It is determined as per the installment plan of each school. Generally 945,000.00 JPY covers 1 year’s school fee and 6 months school fee. But it may be various.
  • Ticket Normally 32,000.00 NRs. to 55,000.00 NRs. for one way. Student can take one way ticket only.
  • Traveler’s amount
  • Normally you need to carry 80,000.00 JPY to 150,000.00 JPY in your pocket while flying.

Monthly Living Expenses

Depend up on the locations but generally 25, 000, 00 JPY to 45,000.00 JPY covers all the expenses per month for a student.

Per hour payment rate

  • In Fukuoka it is 640.00 JPY/hour
  • In Tokyo it is 1,200.00JPY/hour (Payment figures are likely to differ slightly depending on the nature of work.)
